Glucophage XR 500-1000mg 60 tablets

Glucophage Composition:

active ingredient: metformin;
1 coated tablet contains metformin hydrochloride 500mg, 850mg or 1000mg.
excipients: carmellose sodium, hypromellose 100,000 CPS, magnesium stearate.

Pharmacotherapeutic group:
Oral hypoglycemic agents, excluding insulins. ATX code A10B A02.

Indications:

Reduced risk or delayed onset of type 2 diabetes in overweight adults with PTH* and/or PHN* and/or elevated HbA1C who have:
high risk of developing overt (manifest) type 2 diabetes mellitus (see section “Pharmacological”);
progressive disorders of carbohydrate metabolism, despite the modification of an active lifestyle for 3 to 6 months;
Treatment with Glucophage XR should be based on risk assessment, including appropriate glycemic control measures and evidence of high cardiovascular risk;
In parallel with the start of the use of metformin, lifestyle changes should be continued, unless the patient is not able to make such changes for medical reasons.
* PTH: Impaired glucose tolerance; PGN: Fasting glucose disorders.
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially in overweight patients, when diet and exercise alone do not provide adequate glycemic control.
Glucophage XR can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral hypoglycemic agents or together with insulin.
