Pharmachologic effect:
Antihypertensive agent, belongs to the group of oxazolines. Selectively binds to imidazole I1 receptors of central and peripheral (mainly renal) vasomotor centers. Binding of rilmenidine to imidazole receptors inhibits the sympathomimetic activity of cortical and peripheral centers and leads to a decrease in blood pressure. It causes a dose-dependent decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, acts in the position of the patient both lying and standing. In therapeutic doses, the duration of action is 24 hours.
