Telmisartan 80mg 28 tablets

Composition:
active ingredient: telmisartan;

1 tablet contains telmisartan 80 mg;

other ingredients: sodium hydroxide, povidone (E 1201), meglumine, sorbitol (E 420), magnesium stearate (E 470b).

Indications

Hypertension.
Treatment of essential hypertension in adults.
Prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
Reducing the incidence of cardiovascular disease in patients with: severe manifestations of atherothrombotic cardiovascular disease (ischemic heart disease, stroke or peripheral arterial disease in history); type II diabetes mellitus with diagnosed target organ damage.

Dosage & Administration

Treatment of hypertension. The usual effective dose is 40 mg / day. Some patients may be sufficient dose of 20 mg / day. In cases where the desired level of blood pressure is not achieved, the dose of telmisartan can be increased to 80 mg / day. Alternatively, telmisartan may be used in combination with thiazide diuretics (hydrochlorothiazide), which showed an additional decrease in blood pressure when used in conjunction with telmisartan. In deciding to increase the dose should be borne in mind that the maximum antihypertensive effect develops within 4-8 weeks after starting treatment.

Prevention of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The recommended dose is 80 mg 1 time per day. Efficacy telmisartan at doses below 80 mg in the prevention of cardiovascular disease is unknown.

Starting treatment with telmisartan for the prevention of cardiovascular disease, it is recommended to monitor blood pressure and, if necessary, correct the administration of drugs that lower blood pressure.
The drug is taken without regard to meals.

Special patient groups
Impaired renal function. For patients with mild renal insufficiency and moderate no need to correct dose. Experience in the treatment of patients with renal insufficiency or in patients on hemodialysis is limited. In these patients, it is recommended to start treatment with a low dose – 20 mg.
Abnormal liver function. In patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment the daily dose should not exceed 40 mg 1 time per day.
Elderly patients. No dose adjustment is required in elderly patients.

Contradictions

– hypersensitivity to the drug;

– pregnancy and breastfeeding;

– biliary obstructive disorders; severe hepatic impairment;

– child age (18 years).

In case of rare hereditary conditions due to which the possible intolerance to excipients of the drug, taking Mikardisa contraindicated.
