Sumatriptan Indications

Relief of migraine with aura or without aura.

Dosage & Administration

The preparation is not intended for the prevention of migraine attacks. Taking the drug as soon as possible after the onset of a migraine attack, but it is equally effective at any stage of attack.

Adults are usually prescribeded with 50 mg in some cases – 100 mg. If migraine symptoms do not disappear or do not diminish after the first dose, the drug is not recommended for re-cupping, which continues. However, if the attack symptoms diminished or gone after the first dose, the drug can be taken again to the relief of the subsequent attacks in the next 24 hours, but no earlier than 2 hours after the first dose.

The maximum daily dose of sumatriptan in adults is 300 mg.

Contraindications

Individual hypersensitivity to the drug, ischemic heart disease (including myocardial infarction, myocardial infarction, angina, Prinzmetal) or the presence of symptoms to suggest the presence of coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular occlusive disease, transient ischemic attacks (incl . history), stroke (including history), uncontrolled hypertension, expressed human liver and / or kidneys, the simultaneous reception of preparations containing ergotamine or its derivatives (including methysergide), concomitant use of inhibitors monoamine oxidase and the period up to 14 days after their cancellation, pregnancy, lactation, age 18 years and older than 65 years.
