Rosuvastatin Sandoz Indications

Treatment of hypercholesterolemia
The primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia type (type IIb) in adults and children from 10 years as an adjunct to diet when the response to diet and other non-drug measures (such as exercise, weight loss) are not effective.
Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, as an adjunct to diet and other measures for the reduction of lipids (eg LDL apheresis density) or when such a treatment is not possible.
Prevention of cardiovascular disorders
Shown to reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular disorders in adult patients with increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, as evidenced by the presence of risk factors such as age, hypertension, low HDL-C, elevated levels of C-reactive protein, smoking or the presence of a family history of early coronary heart disease.

Contraindications

– Hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or auxiliary substances in the preparation.
– Liver disease in active phase, including at constant the concentration of serum transaminases unexplained etiology and increased concentrations of serum transaminases exceeding the upper limit of normal (ULN) more than 3 times.
– Impaired renal function high severity (creatinine clearance <30 mL / min).
– Myopathy.
– Concomitant use of cyclosporine.
40 mg dose is contraindicated in patients who are prone to myopathy / rhabdomyolysis. Susceptibility factors include:
– Renal dysfunction moderate severity (creatinine clearance <60 mL / min);
– hypothyroidism
– The presence of individual or family history of hereditary muscle diseases
– A history of cases muscle toxicity with other drugs inhibitors of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor or fibrate;
– Chronic alcoholism;
– Conditions in which may increase drug concentration in plasma;
– Mongoloid;
– Concomitant use of fibrates.

Administration

Before the treatment the patient should be transferred to a standard diet low in cholesterol, which he should follow and during therapy. Doses picked individually, taking into account the goal of therapy and response to it, following the current agreed recommendations.
Rosuvastatin can be taken at any time during the day, regardless of food intake.
