Medexol (dexamethasone)

Medexol contains the active ingredient dexamethasone, corticosteroid (topical ophthalmic).

Medexol Indications

Treatment of steroid-sensitive noninfectious inflammatory and allergic conditions of the conjunctiva, cornea and anterior segment of the eye, including inflammation response in the postoperative period.

Contraindications

– Hypersensitivity to dexamethasone or any of the ingredients.

– Acute superficial keratitis caused by herpes simplex, cow and chicken pox and other viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva; untreated bacterial infection of the eye.

– Mycobacterial infection of the eye, which caused, including acid bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium leprae, or Mycobacterium avium.

– Fungal diseases of the eye structures.

– Acute untreated purulent infection of the eye, which, like other diseases caused by microorganisms may be masked or exacerbated by the presence of steroids.

– Corticosteroids should not be used after uncomplicated removal of foreign body from the eye or in the presence of infection or injury, limited surface epithelium of the cornea.

Dosage & Administration

Only for ophthalmic use.

Before applying eye drops should be shaken.

Applications adults, including the elderly

As initial therapy, with severe or acute inflammation should be instilled 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye every 30-60 minutes.

In case of a positive effect of the dose should be reduced to 1-2 drops every 2-4 hours.

Then the dose can be reduced to 1 drop 3-4 times a day when this dose is sufficient to control inflammation.

Chronic inflammation of the dose is 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye (eyes) every 3-6 hours.

With a slight allergy or inflammation dose is 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye (eyes) every 3-4 hours to achieve the desired effect.

Do not stop treatment prematurely.
