Indapen (indapamide)

Indapen contains the active ingredient indapamide, thiazide-like diuretic.

Indapen Indications

Essential hypertension.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to indapamide and / or other components of the drug or other sulfonamides.

Severe renal failure.

Hepatic encephalopathy or other serious liver dysfunction.

Hypokalemia.

Dosage & Administration

For oral administration. 1 tablet a day, preferably in the morning.

Tablets should be swallowed whole with water.

When using higher doses of indapamide does not do more antihypertensive action, but also amplifies diuretic effect.

Renal failure 

In patients with severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance <30 mL / min), the drug is contraindicated. Thiazide diuretics and tiazydopodibni most effective when renal function is not impaired or if the violation is minor.

Elderly patients  

In elderly patients, plasma creatinine should be at a level appropriate to the age, body weight and gender. Indapen can be given if the kidney function is not impaired or if the violation is minor.

Patients with hepatic impairment

In case of severe hepatic dysfunction treatment drug is contraindicated.
