Estulic (guanfacine)

Estulic contains the active ingredient guanfacine, central alpha-2 adrenergic agonist (antihypertensive).

Estulic Indications

Hypertension (especially essential and renovascular), usually in combination with other antihypertensive agents, if the response to treatment with first-line poor or if they are contraindicated.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any excipient; cardiogenic shock, collapse, hypotension; concomitant use of α2-adrenoceptor antagonists (eg, yohimbine, phentolamine).

Dosage & Administration

To avoid possible sedative effects Estuliku® daily dose (1 mg) should take as a single dose at bedtime.

The initial dose is usually 0.5-1 mg. If unsatisfactory therapeutic effect, the dose can be increased to 1 mg every 2-3 weeks to the maximum daily dose of 2-3 mg.

Depending on the daily changes in blood pressure (high blood pressure for several hours before taking the next dose) above-mentioned daily dose can be divided into two stages, but the total daily dose should not exceed 3 mg.
