Dopegyt (methyldopa)

Dopegyt contains the active ingredient methyldopa, central alpha-2 adrenergic agonist (antihypertensive).

Dopegyt Indications

Hypertension.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity reactions to the drug; liver dysfunction associated with previous methyldopa therapy; severe liver dysfunction (including acute hepatitis and active cirrhosis); Concomitant administration of MAO inhibitors; depression; feohromatsytoma; porphyria.

Dosage & Administration

Treatment requires individual selection methyldopa dose. Tablets should be taken internally before or after meals.

Usually initial dose of dopegyt for adults is 250 mg 1 time per day (before bedtime) for the first 2 days. Then the daily dose can be gradually increased to 250 mg every 2 days to achieve adequate blood pressure reduction. As for 2-3 days after initiation of therapy and at subsequent increase in dose may experience sedation drug increased the dose recommended to take 1 per night.

Maintenance dose usually is 500 mg – 2 g per day, to be distributed on 2-4 receptions. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 3 g
