Cosopt (dorzolamide + timolol)

Cosopt contains the active ingredient dorzolamide + timolol, carbonic anhydrase inhibitor + beta-blocker combination.

Cosopt BK Indications

Treatment of increased intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or pseudoexfoliative glaucoma when topical beta-blockers alone are insufficient.

Contradictions

Cosopt BK is contraindicated in patients with:

· Reactive respiratory diseases, including a history of bronchial asthma or bronchial asthma, or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;

· Sinus bradycardia, sinus node weakness syndrome, sinoatrial block, atrioventricular block II or III degree, not controlled by a pacemaker, severe heart failure, cardiogenic shock;

· Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance CrCl

· Hypersensitivity to one or both active substances or to any of the excipients of the drug.

The above contraindications are specific to the active substances of the drug and are not specific to the combination.

Dosage & Administration

Before instillation of the drug Kosopt BC, eye drops:

· Wash your hands before opening the bottle.

· Before the first use of the drug, make sure that the protective strip on the neck of the vial is not damaged. If there is damage, do not use the drug.

· When using the vial for the first time before instilling a drop in the eye, first learn to hold the vial in your hand, press it slowly and drip one drop out of the eye.

· When you are sure that you can instill one drop at a time, you should choose the most comfortable position for instilling the drops (you can sit, lie on your back or stand in front of a mirror).

· Each time you open a new vial, simply drop one drop to activate the vial.

Burial

1. Holding the vial directly under the cap, unscrew the cap to open the vial. Do not touch any objects with the tip of the vial to avoid contamination of the solution.

2. Tilt your head back, holding the vial over your eye.

3. Pull the lower eyelid down and look up. It is easy to press on the bottle in the middle so that one drop hits the eye. Note that there may be a few seconds between pressing and the drop appears. Do not press on the vial too hard.

4. Close your eye and press the inside of your eye with your finger for about two minutes. This will help keep the drop in the eye so that it does not hit another part of the body.

5. Repeat steps 2 – 4 for the other eye if prescribed by a doctor. Sometimes only one eye needs treatment, so your doctor will advise what to do and which eye to treat.

6. After each use and before closing the vial with the cap, shake the vial once down without touching the tip of the dispenser to remove any remaining liquid from the tip. This is necessary in order to ensure the supply of other (subsequent) drops.

7. Any excess fluid should be wiped from the skin around the eye.

8. At the end of the 2nd month after the first opening of the vial of the drug in the vial will remain some of the drug Kosopt BC. Do not try to use the excess medicine left in the vial after you have finished treatment. Do not use eye drops for more than 2 months after first opening the vial.
