Ceftazidime Indications
Treatment of mono- and mixed infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.
Severe infections:
– Sepsis, bacteremia, peritonitis, meningitis
– Infections in patients with lowered immunity
– In patients in intensive care, eg infected burns
Respiratory tract infections, including infections of the lungs of patients with cystic fibrosis.
Upper respiratory tract infections.
Urinary tract infections.
Infections of the skin and soft tissues.
Infections of the digestive tract, biliary tract and abdominal cavity.
Infections of bones and joints.
Infections associated with hemo and peritoneal dialysis and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.
Prevention: surgery on the prostate (transurethral resection).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics.
Hypersensitivity to ceftazidime pentahydrate or to any ingredient of the drug.
Dosage & Administration
The dose depends on the severity of the disease, sensitivity, location and type of infection and the age and renal function of the patient.
It is recommended to use the drug after skin test for tolerance.
