Gentamicin (gentamicin)

Gentamicin contains the active ingredient gentamicin, aminoglycoside antibiotic.

Gentamicin Indications

Infectious-inflammatory diseases, caused by susceptible microorganisms to gentamicin.

For parenteral use: acute cholecystitis, cholangitis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, pneumonia, empyema, peritonitis, septicemia, meningitis, ventriculitis, purulent skin and soft tissue infections, wound infection, burn infection, bone and joint infections.

For external use only: pyoderma, including gangrenous, superficial folliculitis, abrasions; sycosis, paronychia; infected seborrheic dermatitis; infected acne; secondary bacterial infection of fungal and viral infections of the skin; infected skin wounds of various etiologies (burns, wounds difficult to heal ulcers, insect bites); infected varicose ulcers.

For topical use: blepharitis, Blepharoconjunctivitis, dacryocystitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, meybomit. dosage Set individually, taking into account the severity and localization of infection susceptibility. Singel dose for adult 1-1.7 mg / kg daily dose – 3-5 mg / kg; multiplicity of introduction – 2-4 times / day. The course of treatment – 7-10 days.

Depending on the etiology of the disease can be applied at a dose of 120-160 mg 1 time / day for 7-10 days or 240-280 mg once daily.

Premature babies and administered in a daily dose of 2-5 mg / kg; fold – 2 times; Children up to 2 years prescribed the same dose at a frequency of administration of 3 times / day.

Side effects

From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, increase in liver transaminases, hyperbilirubinemia. From hemopoiesis system: anemia, leukopenia, granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia. From the urinary system: oliguria, proteinuria, microscopic hematuria, renal insufficiency. From the central and peripheral nervous system: headache, drowsiness, violation of neuromuscular conduction, hearing loss, vestibular disorders, irreversible deafness. Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, hives, fever, rarely – angioedema.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to gentamicin and other antibiotics, aminoglycosides, neuritis of the auditory nerve, severe renal dysfunction, uremia, pregnancy, lactation (breastfeeding).
