Nimotop (nimodipine)

Nimotop contains the active ingredient nimodipine, calcium channel blocker.

Nimotop Indications

Prevention and treatment of ischemic neurological disorder caused by a spasm of cerebral vessels after subarachnoid hemorrhage due to aneurysm rupture.

Contraindications

Individual hypersensitivity to nimodipine or to any component of the drug.

Dosage & Administration

Course of infusion therapy with intravenous drug Nimotop at a dose of 1 mg nimodipine / (5 ml solution for infusion) / h during the first 2 hours (about 15 mg / kg / h).

With the good tolerability and the absence of severe hypotension after the first two hours of administration increase the dose to 2 mg nimodipine / (10 ml solution for infusion) / h (about 30 mg / kg / h).

Patients weighing much less than 70 kg and for those with labile blood pressure drug administration should start with a dose of 0.5 mg / (Nimotop 2.5 ml, solution for infusion) / hour.

Introduction to the tank of the brain.

During surgery a freshly prepared solution of nimodipine (1 ml infusion solution Nimotop 19 mL of Ringer’s solution), warmed to body temperature, can be administered intratsysternalno. Said solution should be used immediately after preparation.
